Strengthening Trans-Tasman Connections: Precision Medical Partners with Surgical & Medical Systems New Zealand

Some of the best partnerships begin with a simple conversation.

For us, that conversation started on the other side of the world at the World Sterilisation Conference in Belgium in 2023. What began as an introduction quickly grew into a shared vision for supporting sterile services teams across New Zealand -and today, we’re proud to officially partner with Surgical & Medical Systems New Zealand (SMS).

Who is SMS?

SMS has built an outstanding reputation throughout New Zealand for supporting healthcare organisations with infection prevention and sterilisation solutions.

Their team supplies and services industry-leading sterilisation equipment, carries out validation and performance testing, provides infection control advice, delivers education to healthcare teams, and distributes trusted products from internationally recognised manufacturers. Most importantly, they’re a team that shares our passion for improving patient safety through reliable solutions.

They’re the people hospitals call when a steriliser needs servicing, when equipment requires validation, or a CSSD team needs expert support.

Why This Partnership Makes Perfect Sense

At Precision Medical, we know that effective instrument tracking is only one part of a successful sterile services department.

Every day, the SMS team works alongside SSD managers and technicians across New Zealand, helping hospitals maintain the equipment they rely on. Because they’re already on the ground supporting these departments, they’re perfectly placed to recognise when a hospital could benefit from a comprehensive instrument tracking solution.

That’s where MaQS comes in.

Together, we’re able to provide healthcare organisations with not only trusted sterilisation equipment and technical expertise, but also complete visibility and traceability of surgical instruments throughout their lifecycle.

It’s a partnership built on shared values, mutual trust, and a genuine commitment to supporting healthcare teams.

Our First Roll-Out Together

Our partnership is already off to an exciting start.

Recently, our teams worked side-by-side to deliver our first joint MaQS implementation at Mercy Hospital Dunedin in New Zealand, introducing MaQS across the SSD, decontamination area, and sterile store.

Seeing our teams collaborate so seamlessly reinforced exactly why this partnership works. Two organisations, each bringing their own expertise, united by one goal: helping hospitals deliver safer, more efficient patient care.

Looking Ahead

Australia and New Zealand have always shared more than just the Tasman Sea. We share innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare.

We’re incredibly excited to continue strengthening our connection with Aotearoa and supporting more New Zealand hospitals alongside the fantastic team at SMS.

Here’s to new friendships, stronger partnerships, and many more successful MaQS implementations together.

Kia ora, New Zealand – we’re just getting started!
